Global Centre for ICT in Parliament
On 18 August, the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, the Italian joint Parliamentary Library and the IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section, held a one-day training titled "Leveraging Technology for Parliamentary Libraries and Research Services".The training focused on the use of new technologies to enhance the capacity of parliamentary libraries to respond to parliaments' information needs. Special attention was given to existing free and open source solutions for libraries and to the use of Intranet for digital information services. A specific session was dedicated to the negotiation and management of contracts for electronic resources. The event, held at the Italian joint Parliamentary Library, was directed at Heads of parliamentary libraries and IT staff providing support to the libraries from a number of parliaments in developing countries and economies in transition.
