Visit by the President of the Basque Parliament |
On 6 October, Hon. Izaskun Bilbao Barandica, President of the Basque Parliament, visited the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament in Rome to discuss future opportunities for cooperation in the e-democracy domain, particularly in light of the work undertaken by the Working Group on e-Democracy of CALRE coordinated by the Basque Parliament. On this occasion, a set of documents highlighting the findings of the Working Group on e-Democracy was provided to the electronic library of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliaments. The Basque Parliament is currently holding the presidency of CALRE (Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies). |

The Chamber of Deputies of Chile launches Radio Cámara Online |
|
On 30 September the Chamber of Deputies of Chile launched “Radio Cámara Online”, with the intent to communicate with and inform citizens on the creation, analysis, discussion and adoption of laws. Specifically this online radio service has two key objectives: to deliver information to the public on legislative matters addressed in the Chamber of Deputies of Chile in an accessible and user friendly format, and to provide and distribute legislative audio material to those in involved in broadcasting through the Audio Information Agency.

From that moment, anyone in the world with Internet access will be able to watch a regularly changing set of programmes based around the life of the Parliament.
