On 8 April 2013, the ‘ELAK im Bund’ (electronic file system) was launched for judicial administration, thanks to the successful cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Austria and the Federal Computing Centre (Die Bundesrechenzentrum – BRZ, in German).

According to an announcement made in early December 2012, over a quarter of a million people in Austria have activated their electronic identification and signature function, which they can employ using their mobile phones, electronic or professional cards (for notaries and lawyers), identity cards or pupil/student IDs.

During the EuroCloud Europe Awards ceremony that took place in Luxembourg on 8 October 2012, the Austrian Federal Computing Centre (Bundesrechenzentrum - BRZ, in German), won the ‘Best Case Study Public Administration’ category for their cloud computing services.

The new Business Service Portal (Unternehmensserviceportal - USP) became fully operational on 23 May 2012. A portal with daily updated information about available places in nursing homes and in residential care centres for the elderly has been launched by the government of Burgenland, Austria's easternmost state.

On 11 March 2012, the VERITAS project  presented its first two videos on accessible design, introducing simulation based and virtual reality testing at all stages of product design and development in the automotive and smart living spaces, the workplace and eHealth and infotainment applications areas.
