In January 2013, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Steven Vanackere, and the Minister for the Budget and Administrative Simplification, Olivier Chastel, announced the launch of a website on electronic invoicing to encourage its use and reach the EU target of making 50 % of invoicing electronically by 2020.

On 14 December 2012, the Government of La Rioja - an autonomous community and a province of northern Spain - approved via its governing council a decree to regulate electronic communications and notifications to citizens; the communication among the various bodies of the autonomous community and other public agencies are also included in the decree.

In November 2012, the Ministry of Finance, the Productivity Centre and the Department of Information Technology Services announced the launch of the campaign called ‘Do it electronically’, which aims to promote the eGovernment services of public administration.

During the EuroCloud Europe Awards ceremony that took place in Luxembourg on 8 October 2012, the Austrian Federal Computing Centre (Bundesrechenzentrum - BRZ, in German), won the ‘Best Case Study Public Administration’ category for their cloud computing services.

In October 2012, the Council of Ministers approved the second ‘Growth Decree’, which consists of another set of ‘urgent measures for innovation and growth: digital agenda and start-ups’.

The new Business Service Portal (Unternehmensserviceportal - USP) became fully operational on 23 May 2012. It includes multiple new applications in order to serve as a single entry point for businesses, providing them with online information and a single channel for their transactions with the public authorities.

The Lithuanian Information Society Development Committee (IVPK) under the Ministry of Transport has recently developed 'Prisijungusi Lietuva', a website that will allow citizens and businesses to find, quickly and easily, information on the eServices provided by the Public Administration.

Public administrations in Italy's Lazio region are encouraged to replace proprietary software with open source alternatives, according to the relevant article of the new law on open data adopted on 23 May 2012. The law also foresees that all software developed for and by the regions’ public organisations should be made available as open source.

At the beginning of April 2012, the following new electronic services were launched: GetPerson2.0, SearchPersonByName 2.0 and SearchPersonByAddress 2.0, in order to facilitate the work of public administrations. 

Public administrations in Iceland are increasing their use of free and open source software. The country's Government recently launched a one year migration project for all of its public institutions.
