On 30 May 2013 the Government approved a bill on the "public administration delivery of electronic forms and amendment of certain other acts" (Act on eGovernment).

Launched on 28 May 2013, the ‘10th eGovernment Benchmark 2012 - Insight Report’ of the Directorate-General of Communications Networks, Content & Technology reveals that 46 % of EU citizens use online public services. The report surveyed 28 000 Internet users across 32 countries.

On 8 April 2013, the ‘ELAK im Bund’ (electronic file system) was launched for judicial administration, thanks to the successful cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Austria and the Federal Computing Centre (Die Bundesrechenzentrum – BRZ, in German).

On 19 February 2013, the prototype of GovData - the national data portal - went online, providing citizens and businesses with easier access to and reuse of administrative data.

On 18 December 2012 the European Commission adopted seven new priorities for the digital economy and society 2013-2014, following a comprehensive policy review, placing new emphasis on the most transformative elements of the 2010 Digital Agenda for Europe.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Justice announced in November 2012 that in the following months it will carry out a review of the legislative process, which is necessary for the implementation of electronic public services.

Since the launch of the new identity card (ID) on 1 November 2010, around a third of the 17.5 million Germans who have been issued this ID are now holders of the new integrated electronic identity (eID) card. This convenient credit-card sized document enables holders to prove their identity online. Currently, it can be used for 129 business and government online services.

Thanks to a new application called ‘eRegistry’, citizens can set up a non-profit organisation-NPO (Association Sans But Lucratif, ASBL, in French) online. Users are expected to save money on travel costs, while enjoying simplified administrative procedures.

In July 2011, the Lithuanian Government decided to simplify the civil status registration procedures that involve the issuance of paper-based birth, death, marriage or divorce certificates.

In the first four months of 2012, the number of NemLog-in transactions has been increased by over 40 % compared to same period in 2011. This marks a trend in the right direction, i.e. towards the increased use of Danish public 'self-service solutions' online.

The Helsinki city council strongly encourages its IT department to continue with the use of open source software alternatives instead of an IT vendor lock-in. On 13 June 2012, 50 of the city's 85 council members supported a resolution instructing the IT department to keep supporting an open source office suite.

The example of the city of Munich has shown that combining virtualisation and web based applications results in an open and flexible computing platform, independent from IT vendors. Such a switch requires political, management and staff support.

The Latvian Court Administration has implemented the ‘Register of Enforcement Cases’ project, which was developed as part of the European Commission’s specific programme ‘Civil Justice’; its aim is to facilitate the work of bailiffs, speed up the enforcement of court decisions, increase efficiency and reduce the administrative costs.

The Ministry of Information Society and Administration (MISA) announced the launch of a public procurement procedure for the development of a project called ‘eReminder’; its purpose is to send reminders via email or SMS to citizens regarding their administrative obligations towards public institutions.

On 20 April 2012, the Belgian Minister of the Budget and Administrative Simplification, Olivier Chastel presented the third Federal Action Plan for Administrative Simplification to the Federal Council of Ministers.
