In March 2013, the Federal Government announced the creation of a new management system for secure access to online public services and eGovernment applications.

As announced on 4 March 2013, the municipality of Rotterdam offers lawyers and notaries the possibility to authenticate official documents and information for lawsuits or legacy investigations online, upon request, thanks to the eRecognition initiative.

On 19 February 2013, the prototype of GovData - the national data portal - went online, providing citizens and businesses with easier access to and reuse of administrative data.

According to an announcement made in early December 2012, over a quarter of a million people in Austria have activated their electronic identification and signature function, which they can employ using their mobile phones, electronic or professional cards (for notaries and lawyers), identity cards or pupil/student IDs.

As announced in December 2012, the Federal Police and the Federal Ministry of the Interior plan to jointly develop automated border control using the EasyPASS lanes (eGates).

Since the launch of the new identity card (ID) on 1 November 2010, around a third of the 17.5 million Germans who have been issued this ID are now holders of the new integrated electronic identity (eID) card. This convenient credit-card sized document enables holders to prove their identity online. Currently, it can be used for 129 business and government online services.

On 16 October 2012, during the 14th annual conference ‘Greek ICT Forum’, the Deputy Minister of the Public Administrative Reform and eGovernment, Manousos Voloudakis, presented some of the Ministry’s key policy steps in the field of eGovernment.

In September 2012 the European Commission announced the release of funds for Poland’s eGovernment projects. This news comes as result of the ‘Cleaning the Augean stables’ plan, undertaken by the Ministry of Administration and Digitisation after its launch in autumn 2011.

On 29 August 2012, the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivailo Moskovski, signed seven contracts relating to the provision of an electronic identification (eID) system and other eGovernment services.
