On 22 February 2013, the EU eHealth project epSOS received the 2013 HealthTech Innovation Award for pioneering the adoption of auto ID technologies in healthcare.

Since December 2012, thanks to the new electronic process initiated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration, re-submitting claims for child benefit and kindergarten fee subsidy can also be made online, using a valid digital certificate.

On 13 April 2012, after over 3 years of work, the epSOS (Smart Open Services for European Patients) project's pilot phase started.

After three years of operation, the STORK project (Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed) is coming to an end. It was recently announced in an IT magazine that STORK 2.0, its successor, will start in January 2012.

A consortium of researchers and user organisations from across Europe is investigating the accessibility of Web 2.0 applications for disabled and older people, as announced by the relevant I2Web project responsible on 26 October 2011. The consortium will then create new tools to help developers produce applications that are more accessible to these groups.

On 19 October 2011, the Ministry of Public Administration (MPA) launched Minus 25, a website aimed at informing the public about government efforts on administrative burden reduction.

The Ministry of Health launched on 18 October 2011 a call for tenders entitled 'Creation of an interoperable information system (IS) to serve as an eHealth backbone'. The call will remain open for proposals until 18 November.

The Slovenian Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health (Inštitut za varovanje zdravja - IVZ, in Slovenian) are cooperating in 'Smart Open Services for European Patients' (epSOS), the main European electronic health (eHealth) interoperability project co-funded by the European Commission and partner countries.

On 15 November 2011, the Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed (STORK) project is set to receive a Best Practice Certificate at the European Public Sector Award (EPSA) 2011 to be held in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

On 18 May 2011, the Minister for Health Dorijan Marusic delivered a RIS/PACS (radiology information system / picture archiving and communication system) at the Slovenj Gradec General Hospital. The RIS/PACS is intended to digitise the department of radiology, thus enabling paperless diagnosis and ridding of the use of conventional X-ray images.

On 28 March 2011, the Ministry of Health held a presentation at its premises to outline the activities of its national eHealth project in support of the target to upgrade the eHealth system by 2020. 

On 10 March 2011, a delegation from Croatia visited Slovenia to learn about e-VEM, Slovenia's state portal for businesses and entrepreneurs.
