MissionsTechnical Assistance Missions Technical Assistance Mission to the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican RepublicThe technical mission to the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic was conducted from 28 February to 4 March 2011. With the assistance of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico and the Senate of Chile, the mission aimed to assess the current state of ICT in the Chamber of Deputies, what challenges it faces, and what objectives it has for the use of technology. Technical Assistance to the National Assembly of Mauritius - Second AssessmentIn the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments”, a mission team composed by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, SADC Parliamentary Forum and the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal undertook the second assessment mission to the National Assembly of Mauritius from 25 to 31 May 2011. Technical Assistance to the National Assembly of MauritiusIn the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments“ funded by the European Union through the “ACP-Information and Communication Technologies [@CP-ICT] programme”, UN/DESA in collaboration with the SADC PF, through the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, fielded the first assessment mission to the National Assembly of Mauritius from 4 to 8 April 2011. The mission focused on the current state of the ICT envisioning the implementation of the Parliament ICT Strategic Plan. Technical Assistance to the National Assembly of ZambiaIn the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments” funded by the European Union through the “ACP-Information and Communication Technologies [@CP-ICT] programme”, UN/DESA in collaboration with the SADC PF, through the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, fielded the first assessment mission to the National Assembly of Zambia from 14 to 18 March 2011. Technical Assistance to the National Assembly of AngolaFollowing the Workshop on “ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments”, held from 26 to 28 July 2010 in Windhoek, Namibia, the Global Centre fielded the first assessment mission, on 28 February to 4 March 2011, to assist the National Assembly of Angola in the development of the ICT Strategic Plan. The mission focused on the current state of the ICT envisioning the implementation of the Parliament Strategic Plan. Technical Assistance to the Parliament of Sudan – second assessmentIn collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, from 13 to 17 December 2010 the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament undertook a second mission to assess the use of information and communication technologies of both chambers of the Parliament of Sudan. The mission was funded by the IPU and coordinated its work with the UNDP Country Office in Sudan. Technical Assistance to the Parliament of Georgia – second assessmentAt the request of the OECD (Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development), the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament participated in the second assessment mission on the use of ICT in the Parliament of the Republic of Georgia, from 4 to 6 November 2010. The technical assistance mission focused on discussion and adjustment of the first mission report according to comments and new inputs from the Parliament of Georgia and gathered more detailed information about the ICT environment in order to propose a roadmap for implementation of the recommendations. Technical assistance to the National Assembly of Malawi - ICT Strategic Plan (first assessment)Following the Workshop on “ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments”, held from 26 to 28 July 2010 in Windhoek, Namibia, the Global Centre and the SADC Parliamentary Forum fielded the first mission on 24 to 29 October 2010, to assist the National Assembly of Malawi in the development of the ICT Strategic Plan. The mission focused on the current state of the ICT envisioning the implementation of the Parliament Strategic Plan. Technical Assistance to the Parliament of SudanFrom 4 to 8 July 2010 the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the UNDP Office in Khartoum, undertook a mission to assess the use of information and communication technologies of both chambers of the Parliament of Sudan. The mission team was composed by two experts from the Global Centre and the Parliament of Finland. Technical Assistance to the Council of the Nation and the National Assembly of AlgeriaAt the request of the UNDP Country Office in Algier, the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament fielded a technical mission to analyze the current use of information and communication technologies in the Parliament of Algeria, from 9 to 14 of May 2010. The mission focused on diagnostic and analysis of ICT solutions to improve legislative, oversight and representative functions of the Council of the Nation and the National Assembly of Algeria. Technical Assistance to the Parliament of Guinea-Bissau - second assessmentThe Global Centre for ICT in Parliament undertook a second assessment on the use of ICT in the National People's Assembly of Guinea-Bissau from 23 April to 3 May 2010. The second technical assistance mission focused on the development of an ICT Strategic Development Plan for the next five years, with recommendations on ICT solutions to improve legislative, oversight and representative functions. The mission responded to a request made by the UNDP Country Office in Guinea-Bissau. Technical Assistance to the Parliament of GeorgiaAt the request of the OECD (Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development), the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament participated in the assessment on the use of ICT in the Parliament of the Republic of Georgia, from 22 to 26 March 2010. The technical assistance mission focused on openness, transparency and effectiveness of legal drafting process in the Parliament, mainly through reforming the IT system (internet and intranet), to improve efficiency of the activity of MPs and of consultative and participatory mechanisms. Technical Assistance to the National Assembly of VietnamFrom 8 to 12 March 2010 the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament facilitated and supported a mission to the National Assembly of Vietnam of one parliamentary ICT Project Management Expert from the Parliament of Finland. Requested by the UNDP Office in Vietnam, the mission aimed to contribute to the effective integration of ICT into the National Assembly's newly-established Institute for Legislative Studies (ILS). Technical Assistance to the Parliament of Guinea-BissauAt the request of the UNDP Office in Guinea-Bissau, the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament undertook an assessment of the current uses of information and communication technologies in the National People's Assembly of Guinea-Bissau from 22 February to 5 March 2010. The technical assistance mission focused on ICT infrastructure and human resources needs of the Parliament. Global Centre concludes 1st Technical Assistance Mission to the Parliament of the Kingdom of CambodiaFrom 23 to 27 March 2009 a mission team fielded by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament carried out an ICT needs assessment at the Senate and the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, with the aim to revise the strategic objectives for ICT in Parliament in both chambers. The mission team met with the heads of several departments and carried out interviews with key staff members. In the coming weeks a second mission will be prepared during which the ICT strategy will be discussed as well as concrete project proposals. |
