U.S. House of Representatives: House Floor Summary in real-time RSS feeds and new search tool in HouseLive.gov

The Clerk’s office of the House of Representatives of the United States implemented two projects: 

  • The House Floor Summary may now be accessed through a real-time RSS feed. The feed displays legislative proceedings as they occur, in addition to the proceedings of the previous five legislative days.
  • New speaker search tool: HouseLive.gov now provides users with the ability to search the full transcript of any legislative day to find the video of where a Member of the House spoke on the Floor. The  search function is accessible via the dropdown menu at the top of the Floor Summary window.

European Parliament delivers the open source version of AT4AM, a web editor for amending legislation.

AT4AM, a web editor provided to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), has largely improved the drafting of amendments at the European Parliament since its introduction in 2010. In May 2012, at the opening of the international workshop "Identifying benefits deriving from the adoption of XML-based chains for drafting legislation", Rainer Wieland, Vice President of the European Parliament, announced the launch of a new project aimed at providing the open source version of the tool.

The Senate of Italy publishes all bills in XML Akoma Ntoso

Since 23 February 2013 the Senate of Italy started to publish on its website all bills in XML, using an Akoma Ntoso compliant scheme (in addition to the usual HTML, PDF, and ePub formats). Also, the Senate of Italy recently released the open data portal dati.senato.it

World e-Parliament Conference 2012

The World e-Parliament Conference 2012 was held at the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, in Rome, on 13, 14 and 15 September. The Conference concluded on the International Day of Democracy, established in 2008 by the UN General Assembly.

Parliamentary documents such as committee reports and texts of debates and hearings are fundamental records of the legislature. These documents must be prepared quickly, efficiently and accurately. They must be distributed easily and then amended, revised and redistributed just as easily. And they must be archived effectively to ensure availability and long-term preservation.
