The Regional Workshop entitled âThe Impact of New Technologies in the
Transformation of the Legislative Branch: From Awareness, to Planning, to
Actionâ was roganized by the United Nations, through its Global Centre
for ICT in Parliament, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the
Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD), from May 30th â June
1st, 2012, in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The Regional Workshop provided exposure to each participating Parliament of ongoing regional developments and trends in parliamentary information and communication technologies within the context of the Programme âConnected Parliamentsâ. It also served as a forum for participants to discuss how the recently developed ICT Strategic Plans can be implemented in each of the beneficiary Parliaments of the Project âSupport to ICT Strategic Planning in the Caribbean Parliamentsâ. Finally, the Workshop explored regional opportunities and identified synergies for solidifying a supportive Regional Community of Practice aimed at continued eâParliament learning and capacity building.
Participants from 14 Caribbean Parliaments who gathered at the Regional Workshop, on 30 May - 1 June in Bridgetown, together with representatives of regional/international organizations and partners.
