Source:
ePractice.eu 2 - Summary:
The Lithuanian Information Society Development Committee (IVPK) under the Ministry of Transport has recently developed 'Prisijungusi Lietuva', a website that will allow citizens and businesses to find, quickly and easily, information on the eServices provided by the Public Administration. 3 - Description:
The users of Prisijungusi Lietuva ('Log in to Lithuania', in English) can find in a single site, conveniently presented and regularly updated, information about the public eServices developed with support of the European Union Structural Funds and co-financing. The number of such services is continuously growing. Among the website’s features is the online catalogue, which consists of short and clear descriptions of the eServices offered by various Institutions. More specifically, for each service the catalogue offers a description of: their main characteristics, benefits, delivery times, authority providing it, the various steps required to benefit from it, answers to frequently asked questions as well as a link to their website. Services are divided into those targeted at citizens and those addressed to businesses, as well as those of national coverage and those by categories of population. The site provides the users with guidelines on the use and creation of electronic signatures, and the creation of their identity in cyberspace. Short video clips present a number of popular online services and the use of the site's features. They also have an active helpdesk at their disposal ready to answer all their questions. Internet users lack information on the eServices provided by the public sector. According to the results of a public survey conducted by IVPK in January 2012, 27 % of the respondents lack information about eServices that they think may be useful; 22 % call for clear and easy instructions on how to use eServices, and 17 % ask for the information on public eServices provided by the different authorities to be centralised in one place. "We want to guarantee that this kind of information is effectively disseminated and make it accessible via the website. As the body handling EU structural assistance for the development of Information Society in Given the booming of mobile communications devices - smart phones, tablet PCs – the new Prisijungusi Lietuva site is designed and adapted for mobile use through m.prisijungusi.lt. Moreover the website is available free of charge in the Lithuanian mobile gadget directory. The Prisijungusi Lietuva project has been implemented by IVPK in order to raise the public's awareness of EU structural funds and of the eServices created with EU funding, and train citizens to use them. The project is funded by the Lithuanian Economic Growth Action Programme.
