The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) convened a meeting on "Parliaments and the Information Society: Enhancing cooperation and building partnerships" on 17 May 2006, Palais des Nations, Geneva.
This meeting, open to all stakeholders, provided an opportunity to share information and exchange views on the potential of new technologies to strengthen Parliaments' strategic role in promoting good governance, and to present relevant programmes and initiatives and identify possible ways of collaboration.
