The Global Centre for ICT in Parliament has been informed by the Senate of Italy that an online service for converting electronic documents into "ebook" formats has been recently launched on the Senate’s website with a view to increase access to parliamentary information from tablet and mobile devices. The service is freely available at http://www.senato.it/ebook.

The service relies on an open source software developed internally by the Senate, which is downloadable free of charge, along with documentation, at http://scribaebookmake.sourceforge.net.

The Global Centre for ICT in Parliament encourages all parliaments to take advantage of this opportunity and, if needed, to contact the Senate of Italy for more information and possible collaboration.
