Global Survey on ICT in Legislatures 2007

Between July and November 2007, the Global Centre conducted a worldwide survey on the use of ICT by legislatures. A questionnaire was sent to 263 chambers of unicameral and bicameral parliaments in 188 countries and to two regional parliaments. In total 105 assemblies responded to the survey: 48 unicameral, 56 bicameral and one regional.

The survey had several goals:

To establish an authoritative baseline of how national parliaments are using, or planning to use ICT to help them fulfill their responsibilities for lawmaking, oversight, and representation.
To allow legislatures to conduct their own assessment on the use of ICT in their day-to-day work, so that they could confirm strengths as well as identify areas for possible improvement.
To provide an opportunity for sharing lessons learned and good practices that may be of interest to many parliaments, both in developing and developed nations.
