Global Survey of ICT in Parliaments 2009

In 2008, the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament jointly published the World e-Parliament Report 2008.

The World e-Parliament Report represented the first effort to establish a baseline of how parliaments are using, or planning to use, technology to help them carry out their representative, lawmaking and oversight responsibilities and to connect to their constituencies. The Report proved to be a useful instrument to advance a shared knowledge base among the parliaments of the world, to guide some parliaments in modernizing their processes and to promote international debate on these matters.

The Report drew on information provided by an unprecedented number of 105 assemblies from around the world that participated in the Global Survey of ICT in Parliaments 2007.

In preparation for the release of the second issue of the World -Parliament Report, scheduled for early 2010, the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament has launched a new edition of the survey. An improved questionnaire has been distributed among parliaments worldwide to assess globally the use of technology in Parliament.
