17 May 2009 - The theme of this year's World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is Protecting Children in Cyberspace that aims at ensuring that children can safely access the Internet and its valuable resources without fear of falling prey to unscrupulous predators in cyberspace. The WTISD is celebrated annually on the 17 May and its purpose is to raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
