Ma, 23/04/2013 - Me, 24/04/2013 The National Democratic Institute (NDI), Stanford’s Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL), the Omidyar Network and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) organized the conference "Governing Democratically in a Tech-Empowered World", on 23-24 April 2013, to explore how technology is changing the ways in which democracies function and how to support democratic institutions, particularly in developing democracies, in adapting to these changes. Anders Johnsson, Secretary General of IPU, delivered opening remarks and UN/DESA was represented by Flavio Zeni, Chief Technical Adviser, Africa i-Parliament Action Plan. La clôture de la Conférence a coincidé avec la Journée internationale de la démocratie, établie en 2008 par l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies. New website launchedThe National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Sunlight Foundation and the Latin American Network for Legislative Transparency launched the website www.openingparliament.org to serve as a forum to help connect the world's civic organizations engaged in monitoring, supporting and opening up their countries' parliaments and legislative institutions. El Congreso para NiñosEl Congreso de la República de Guatemala con apoyo del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD) lanzó el sitio web www.infantil.congreso.gob.gt, el que contien un diseño y un contenido orientado a que los niños y jovenes se involucren e interesen en como funciona el Congreso de la República, cuáles son sus órganos, interactuar con sus diputados y un espacio para cargar documentos que contengan noticias relacionadas con niñez y juventud así como un espacio de biblioteca. Este es un avance más dado en busqueda de fortalecer las institucinalidad y al mismo tiempo involucrar a nuestra juventud que es de un 35% aproximadamente en los temas de ciudadanía, Estado de Derecho, Transparencia y Democracia Participativa. Monitoring Groups Agree to Work Together to Advance Parliamentary TransparencyAt the Conference "PMO Leaders Conference on Parliamentary Transparency and Networking" concluded on 2 May 2012, parliamentary monitoring organizations (PMOs) from all regions of the world shared their experiences and good practices on a host of topics, from monitoring political finance to advocating for greater transparency of parliamentary information. The PMOs at the conference agreed to continue to work together in a number of concrete areas, including a shared declaration of principles on parliamentary transparency.
