Inauguration of the Office of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) inaugurated in Rome, Italy, the Office of the Global Centre for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Parliament.
Fourth General Assembly of the International Parliamentarians Association for Information Technology

The Assembly addressed themes such as the parliamentary websites on Internet, Information Technology as a key to efficient education and Information Technology as a mean of good governance.

Parliaments' Information Management in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities of ICTs to Strengthen Democracy and Parliamentary Governance. The Conference created an opportunity for African Parliaments to appreciate the complex scenario of issues, constraints and diversified resources that African Parliaments need to acknowledge and address for the successful deployment of ICTs in their legislatures.

Third Parliamentary Forum on Shaping the Information Society - ICT and the Global Economic Crisis: Current Situation and Future Perspectives
The Report of the Third Parliamentary Forum is now available!
The Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, Mr. Sha Zukang; the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mr. Anders Johnson; and the Secretary General of the ITU, Mr. Hamadoun Touré opened the Third Parliamentary Forum “ICT and the Global Economic Crisis: Current Situation and Future Perspectives”. The event was the third meeting of members of parliament focusing on issues relating to the Information Society and the aim of the Forum series was to further dialogue among legislators on parliamentary actions that can contribute to the shaping of the future Information Society in view of the WSIS implementation, follow-up and future 2015 review.
