International CooperationSupport to parliamentary delegations - World e-Parliament Conference 2008The United Nations, through the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, and the European Parliament will sponsor the participation of a limited number of parliamentary staff from developing countries (according to the OECD/DAC list of ODA recipients) by covering the travel and per diem expenses of one delegate per Chamber. The World e-Parliament Conference 2008 took place at the European Parliament in Brussels on 25 and 26 November 2008. The Conference was co-organized by the European Parliament and the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, a joint initiative of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and a core group of partners, established in 2006 to promote the role of parliaments in advancing the Information Society goals as well as the effective use of ICT for the modernization of parliamentary processes. Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC ParliamentsThe Project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments” intends to assist the parliaments of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) in developing their vision and comprehensive strategic plans for the effective deployment of ICT in Parliament. ECOWAS Parliament
The ECOWAS Parliament is the Assembly of the people of the Economic Community Of West African States. Members of the Parliament are deemed to represent all citizens of West Africa. It provides advisory opinion on issues covering a wide range of areas that are of crucial importance for the integration process in the region. These include respect for human rights, the interconnection of communication and telecommunication links, health, education, and revisions of basic community texts.
