La Conferencia Mundial de 2012 sobre el Parlamento electrónico está organizada conjuntamente por las Naciones Unidas y la Unión Interparlamentaria, a través del Centro Mundial para las TIC en el Parlamento, y hospedada por la Cámara de Diputados de Italia en Roma.

Legislative XML Summer School LEX12, Managing Legal Resources in the Semantic Web

The school provided knowledge of the most significant ICT standards emerging for legislation, judiciary, parliamentary and administrative documents. The course provided an understanding of their impact in the different phases of the legislative and administrative process, awareness of the tools based on legal XML standards and their constellations, and the ability to participate in the preparation and use of standard-compliant documents throughout law-making process.
This year the course took place in Ravenna, Italy, on 10-15 September 2012.
It was followed on 17-18 September by a Akoma Ntoso Developers Workshop.

National Assembly of Seychelles gets support for ICT project

The National Assembly of Seychelles is being empowered to make greater use of information communication technologies (ICT) to promote transparency, accountability, democratic participation and good governance, so as to better fulfill its democratic function. Effectively, a team of three experts from the United Nations (UN) and the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) was at the National Assembly, conducting a needs assessment for a project to develop an ICT strategic plan for the National Assembly of Seychelles.

Second Technical Assistance Mission to the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic

In the framework of the European Commission funded project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the Caribbean Parliaments”, a second technical mission was conducted to the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic (1 to 6 August 2011). Following the assessment previously undertaken, the second mission focused on the preparation of the ICT Strategic Plan.

Technical Assistance Mission to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda

In the framework of the European Commission funded project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the Caribbean Parliaments”, a technical mission was conducted to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda (25 to 28 July 2011) to carry out an assessment of the status of ICT in the Assembly and make initial recommendation for the ICT Strategic Plan. The mission team was composed by a senior expert on ICT in Parliament and IT experts from the House of Representatives of Trinidad and Tobago and CARICAD.

Technical Assistance Mission to the House of Assembly of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

In the framework of the European Commission funded project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the Caribbean Parliaments”, a technical mission was conducted to the House of Assembly of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (19 to 22 July 2011) to carry out an assessment of the status of ICT in the Assembly and make initial recommendation for the ICT Strategic Plan. The mission team was composed by a senior expert on ICT in Parliament and IT experts from the House of Representatives of Trinidad and Tobago and CARICAD.

Second Technical Assistance Mission to the National Assembly of Zambia

In the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments”, a technical mission was conducted to the National Assembly of Zambia (11 to 15 July 2011) by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament and the SADC Parliamentary Forum, with support from experts from the Parliament of South Africa and the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal.

Technical Assistance Mission to the National Assembly of Zimbabwe

In the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments, a technical mission was conducted to the National Assembly of Zimbabwe (4 to 8 July 2011) by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament and the SADC Parliamentary Forum, with support from an expert from the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The mission focused on the assessment of the current situation of ICT in the parliament, with a view to assist with the development of its ICT Strategic Plan.

Technical Assistance Mission to the National Assembly of Malawi

In the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments”, the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament and the SADC Parliamentary Forum conducted a second technical mission to the National Assembly of Malawi (27 June to 1 July 2011). Following the initial assessment undertaken previously, the mission focused on the drafting of the ICT strategic plan for the Parliament with specific objectives and a roadmap for implementation.

Technical Assistance Mission to the National Assembly of Swaziland

In the framework of the project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the SADC Parliaments” funded by the European Commission, a mission team of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament undertook the first assessment mission to the National Assembly of Swaziland from 13 to 17 June 2011. The mission focused on the assessment of the current situation of ICT in the Parliament, with a view to assist with the development of its ICT Strategic Plan.

In the framework of the European Commission funded project “Support to ICT Strategic Planning in the Caribbean  Parliaments”, a technical mission was conducted to the National Assembly of Guyana (13 to 17 June 2011) to carry out an assessment of the state of ICT of the  Assembly. The mission team was composed by a Senior Advisor of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament and IT experts from the National Assembly of Panama and CARICAD.

Technical Assistance Mission to the House of Assembly of Dominica

A technical mission was conducted to the House of Assembly of Dominica from 6 to 10 June 2011. The mission  aimed to carry out an assessment of the state of ICT of the House of Assembly and to outline gaps and opportunities for future strategic recommendations for its improvement. The mission team was composed by a Senior Advisor of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament and an IT expert from the National Assembly of Panama.
